Read the lead’s brief and source
Read the original request and its source before planning an answer or changing qualification.

Open the lead
Select the lead in the board or list. Read the company, linked Contact, Role and Source together. The company name alone does not identify which person requested the work.

Understand the brief
Read the enquiry’s brief and linked context. Separate the client’s request from internal assumptions about budget, service and timing. Open source conversations or form responses when linked instead of treating a summary as the original message.
Maintain the source
Use Source to identify where the enquiry came from. Choose the existing source vocabulary when it fits, or enter a useful source name. Keep this consistent across the team so source comparisons remain meaningful.
Turn uncertainty into a question
If the scope, budget or contact role is unclear, put the question into the next step and assign a follow-up date. Update the lead after the conversation, keeping the original request understandable in its notes and activity.
